Providence Imaging Center is participating in the National Oncologic PET Registry (NOPR). Participation in the PET Registry will allow Medicare reimbursement for patients with diagnoses not currently covered. We know that sometimes physicians or patients decide against PET-CT when coverage is in question. The PET Registry will give you the option of PET-CT for those patients.
This means that most Medicare patients with diagnoses not listed on our PET-CT order form will have coverage for a PET-CT scan if we enroll them in the registry. The registry involves paperwork. We will do as much of the work as we can; but there are two quick and easy forms that must be completed by the referring physician:
- A pre-PET-CT questionnaire documents diagnosis, patient status and management plan
- A post-PET-CT questionnaire asks you to indicate the management plan after reviewing the scan
Paperwork will only be needed for the Medicare patients not currently covered. So, anytime you mark the box "other tumor" on our order form for a Medicare patient, we will need the extra paperwork. We can work out a system with your office to make this as easy as possible. Our staff will take care of reviewing the patient information sheet with the patient prior to the scan.
Please review the Referring Physician Information Sheet. It will help you determine if you would like to include your patients in registry. The pre-PET-CT form is the same for every patient (click here to download a 4 page PDF file that you can print) so you could have these on hand at the office. The post-PET-CT form differs depending on the initial reason for the study.
