Imaging Center Adds Space And Services
December 9, 2004
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA
– Providence Imaging Center
(PIC) just completed a $7.6 million
expansion and renovation project:
$3.6 million for tenant improvements
and $4 million for equipment. More
than 8,000 square feet was added,
as well as dedicated parking spaces
adjacent to the “A” tower,
in front of PIC. A public open house
celebrating completion of the project
will take place Thursday, Dec. 9,
2004, from 5:15 – 7 p.m. at
the Imaging Center, located at 3340
Providence Drive in Anchorage. Tours
of PIC will be offered.
“We expanded to meet growing
patient demand,” said Laura
McDonough, PIC’s executive director.
“This project provided a much-needed
facelift, as well as increasing space
and services.”
Specifically, the PIC expansion includes
the following additions:
One additional mammography room,
for a total of four mammography rooms
plus a stereotactic biopsy room
Two ultrasound rooms,
for a total of four general ultrasound
rooms and a new room that specializes
in vascular ultrasound
A CT room with a 16-slice
CT -- this is a new piece of equipment
and PIC service
A PET-CT room with a
state-of-the-art, 16-slice PET-CT
(note that PIC began PET-CT services
in September 2003, but it was in a
mobile unit)
A women's lounge adjacent
to many women's imaging services (bone
densitometry, mammography, ultrasound)
Twenty-three dedicated
parking spaces adjacent to the front
of PIC
Two consult rooms –
one in the women's center and, the
other near MRI – as well as
several patient bathrooms and dressing
rooms
The lobby was renovated, adding more
seating. On the second floor, administrative
offices, a new scheduling area, an
employee break room, employee locker
areas and a bathroom were added. Film
storage in the File Room also increased.
Walls, floors and furnishings feature
bright contemporary shades of blue
and green with a variety of light
and dark wood accents. Light panels
incorporate a variety of northern
vegetation leaf patterns. Three local
photographers’ works adorn the
walls, including Ron Nichols, an ultra-runner
and Alaskan adventurer; Dr. Richard
Neubauer, a local physician; and Marlene
Beynon, a Providence Alaska Medical
Center employee
“Our goal was to reflect Alaska’s
outdoors by providing a bright, yet
tranquil, environment for patients,
clinicians and staff,” said
McDonough.
PIC’s imaging services include
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI),
positron emission tomography with
computed tomograhy (PET-CT), computed
tomography (CT), mammography, mobile
mammography, ultrasound, bone densitometry,
and general x-ray. PIC is accredited
by the American College of Radiology
in ultrasound, breast ultrasound,
mammography and stereotactic biopsy.
