Providence Imaging Center is pleased to announce a new screening test for patients who are at higher risk for coronary artery disease (CAD), called Cardiac Scoring with CT (or CAT scan). Available only in our Anchorage location, this exam uses special software which allows the radiologist to see if any calcium (plaque) is present in the coronary arteries of the heart.

It is a quick, noninvasive study that typically takes less than 10 minutes to perform.

This image shows calcium (plaque) in a coronary artery (white), which indicates a high risk for future heart attack.

This screening test is typically not covered by insurance plans, and is generally treated as "self-pay".  If you are interested in getting this test, please contact your primary care provider.  He or she can send a written order, which details the exact reasons for the test. A written report with results will be sent to your healthcare provider, who will discuss them and any further recommendations.  For more information about this test, please contact our CT Schedulers at (907) 212-3146.
