Providence Imaging Center announces a recent upgrade to its image viewing software. Windows 7 users in clinician offices are now able to view images in Synapse 4.0
We’re pleased to announce that a recent upgrade to our PACS system (Picture Archiving & Communication System) occurred on March 19, 2012. Synapse allows clinicians with remote access to Providence records the ability to view their patient’s radiology images securely in their office. Until the upgrade, offices who were running Windows 7 as their operating system could not view these images, a source of frustration for many practices.

Providence Imaging Center now routinely includes a fracture risk assessment on all bone density (DXA) radiology reports. This is calculated with an online tool created by the World Health Organization called FRAX. These algorithms, based on the lengthy study of populations in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, output the 10-year probability of hip fracture, and the 10-year probability of a major osteoporotic fracture (clinical spine, forearm, hip or shoulder fracture). This information uses the measurement of the femoral neck bone mineral density that our bone density machine calculates during the brief DXA exam. Combined with the patient's height and weight, age, and health history, the risk is calculated accurately and quickly.
If you have any questions about this new feature on our imaging reports, please contact us at 907 212-3151.
